EC2 Nitro is the next generation of EC2 instances leveraging new virtualisation technology and will allow for much better performance, specifically:

• Better networking performance, IPv6 IP support, High Performance Computing
• Nitro Instances provide better security and much higher EBS IOPS (IO Operations Per Second) support. Current non Nitro EBS volumes can only support a maximum of 32 000 IOPS whereas Nitro can support up to 64 000 IOPS
